Question: Even though I’ve prayed about it, I’m still terrified about my upcoming job interview. What do I do?

Answer: We deal with so many things in our daily lives that can make us afraid. For example, we hear about people becoming victims of crime, so we fear for the safety of our family. We know of people who develop serious illnesses, so we fear if our children get the slightest fever.  We have a lot of debts to pay off, so we fear losing our jobs. So naturally, when we are faced with challenging and high stakes events in our lives, we tend to fear the potentially negative outcomes.

But as Believers, we must remember that this fear is not of God. The Apostle Paul reminds us of this in 2 Timothy 1:7 when he says, “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”  (NKJV) God does not want us to be fearful of the things in this world!

So whenever we start to feel fearful, remember the comforting scriptures in God’s Holy Word! For example, Psalm 23:4 reassures us saying,”…I will fear no evil for You are with me…” And Psalm 27:1 strengthens us saying, ” The Lord is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; Of whom shall I be afraid?” These and many other scriptures teach us that when we face fear, we must focus our minds and hearts on our Almighty God!

Our loving Heavenly Father God tells us that He is with us, and He will provide for us! We do not need to be afraid! Pray and say to any fearful situation, ” God’s got this! So I’m not going to be afraid anymore!” Amen!
